Tour Description
Don't have time for a full day tour but want to learn more about the Battle of Okinawa? See some of the most famous locations of the Battle of Okinawa with this four-and-a-half-hour historical tour. We will start at Hacksaw Ridge, one of the most famous engagements in the Battle where Desmond Doss saved 75 people. After touring the site, we will move to the Former Japanese Navy Underground Headquarters. Here we will be able to enter a man-made cave complex created by the Japanese military, which was once used as the headquarters for the Japanese Navy. Our final stop for the day will be at Peace Memorial Park in Itoman. We will visit the Cornerstone of Peace, a memorial to all who died in the Battle of Okinawa along with the Okinawa Prefectural Peace Memorial Museum, which tells the story of the Battle of Okinawa and Okinawa's post war years. Cost: 9,000 Yen per Person This fee covers: Pick up and drop off at the Urasoe Maeda Monorail Station Transportation and all transportation related fees Your guided tour Additional Costs: 600 Yen/Person for the Former Japanese Navy Underground Headquarters 300 Yen/Person for the Okinawa Prefectural Peace Memorial Museum Additional money for any souvenirs or purchases Activity Level: This tour includes moderate physical activity. We will walk up stairs and on uneven walking surfaces. Some stops will include slightly longer distances at a leisurely pace (less than a mile/1.6 km) or extended periods of standing (up to an hour).
