Haitai (Hello)! I'm Michelle Fukuyama, founder and guide of Laughing Shisa Tours. Born and raised in Hawaiʻi, I first came to Okinawa through the JET Programme and quickly fell in love with the island's culture, people, and history. What began as a two-year plan became a lifelong passion.
With a background in history, museum studies, university teaching, and a PhD focused on Okinawan history, I love helping visitors discover the stories that make Okinawa unique. Whether you're here for a day or a lifetime, I look forward to sharing this incredible island with you.
